Bloggers' BOM

A blog-hop and 12-month Block-of-the-Month initiated by Jackie at Canton Village Blog

Begun September, 2011.  New blocks (and photo tutorials on constructing them) will be published on the 25th of each month.  The blocks are 8.5" and some participants are making two of each block so as to have a bigger quilt top.

Nothing would give me greater joy than to buy an arm load of Kaffe Fasset fabrics to play with while making these blocks.  The fabrics being used in the BOM are so compelling and beautiful.  But I'm exercising considerable restraint here, and will go shopping in my stash - or maybe my strip bins.  I read somewhere that there are approximately 4 yards per pound of fabric, and when I did the math I was horrified at how many quilts could be made from just my strip bins.  I need to stop thinking of them as scraps and start thinking of them as stash.
Here's a pic of my 2.5" strip bin.

After rumaging through some strips, I settled on a blue and neutrals scrappy quilt.  My blocks are going to look really boring and dull beside some of those scrumptious kaffe fasset fabrics.

I got to use my Easy Angle ruler to make the HST squares and that meant I didn't need to get bigger strips and cut them down - I could cut the triangles from the same 2.5" strips.  I love this ruler.
